‘The Last Passage’ covers the concluding books, 23 & 24, of the Iliad.
As part of the ‘Homer Prepares’ project, James McCaughey, and percussionist Matthew Horsley, take the audience on a journey through the Iliad.
The Iliad is revealed as it comes into being as a series of improvisations. We see Homer planning each day’s singing; and then realising it as a modern performance of the original. This is an accessible, contemporary version that captures Homer’s violence, humour and lyricism.
‘The Last Passage’ is presented for three nights only, 14, 15 & 16 July, in The David Li Sound Gallery at Monash University Performing Arts Centre.
