A brand new, all-singing, all-dancing, entirely krilling performance for kids and their grown-ups, about a badly behaved rockstar queen, an enthusiastic tap-dancing krill, a whale of a problem, and how the power of being small, but mighty, can help save the world.
From internationally celebrated, award-winning theatre company Finucane & Smith, The Rockstar and the Krill invites children to dive deep into the ocean, make a krill, save the whale, and save the world in this environmental children’s show.
There’s a huge commotion at the bottom of the ocean. A badly behaved rockstar and a tap-dancing krill have found themselves inside the belly of a whale! But how did they get there? And more importantly, how will they get out? Along the way, you’ll also help answer the big questions: is a whale song the most beautiful sound in the world? Can everyone learn the Krill Jive? Do deep-sea poo pumps really exist? And how can something small have the power to make a big difference?
At the start of each performance, join in the fun and create your own krill. Discover why krills are the unsung heroes of the food chain, and place your own krill among our swarm, which could grow so large it might even be visible from space!

The Rock Star and the Krill is part of Family Fiesta’s expedition to Antarctica! Join the penguin parade for an action-packed festival filled with ice play, glacier music, polar camping, krill cabaret, and more. Monash University merges science and the arts, bringing the latest Antarctic research and discoveries to life these school holidays.
After exploring, stop by The Count’s — lunch is sorted with a menu made for hungry adventurers! The Count’s lunch service will be available 11am-1.30pm. A coffee van will also be available 9am-1pm.
