Winter Concert

The Ian Potter Centre for Performing Arts
Monash University Clayton Campus

$20 - $45

Past Event

The National Boys Choir of Australia is proud to present its annual Winter Concert.

Enjoy performances from the NBCA Training Choirs directed by Mandy Lynn Brook, and the Young Men’s Choir and Performing Choir directed by Andrew Bainbridge.
In addition to their more usual choral repertoire, the Performing Choir will present a staged and costumed performance of Stephen Leek’s dramatic work “Batavia”.
Composed in 1997 for Anne Williams and the Eltham East Primary School Choir, who wrote the lyrics, the work depicts the maiden voyage and sinking in 1629 of the Dutch ship Batavia off the coast of Geraldton in Western Australia, and the desperate fight for survival of its crew and passengers.

Reception

The NBCA board will be hosting a reception to celebrate Jan Eldred’s 30 years of service to the choir.
Guests are warmly invited to purchase a ticket that includes admittance to the reception, at no additional cost, and join us in the foyer from 3:20pm to enjoy some food, drinks and to farewell Jan.
