Festival Exclusive

Across two days, kummargi yulendj gadhaba brings together global First Nations thinkers, artists, Elders, Knowledge Holders, academics and allies to listen, share and learn together.

The Boonwurrung concept kummargi yulendj gadhaba (knowledge rising up together) has been chosen for this event by Senior Boonwurrung Elder N’arwee’t Professor Carolyn Briggs AM to reflect the spirit of community the event represents and how new knowledge is generated through person-to-person connection.

Knowledge will be exchanged in ‘circles’ – relational spaces spanning a range of topics and themes that centre connection, reciprocity and deep listening – as well as through discussions, workshops and performances. The lineup represents ideas and experiences submitted through an open callout to Indigenous knowledge holders, alongside curated moments.

Together, these sessions invite delegates to exchange ideas, foster connection and explore Indigenous knowledges as living, relational and deeply interconnected.

Kummargi yulendj gadhaba is an opportunity to slow down, listen deeply and be present. Designed as an intimate experience, the event prioritises depth over scale, with limited tickets available.

We ask that all ticket-holders commit to attending both days, allowing relationships and conversations to unfold over time. More information about sessions and speakers will be announced soon.

Wurrunggi Biik

For First Nations delegates, we invite you to begin Kindred People with Wurrunggi Biik on Tuesday 1 September – a dedicated day of protocol, welcome and ceremony on Boonwurrung Country.

Led by Boonwurrung Elder in Residence Professor N’arwee’t Carolyn Briggs AM, this gathering on Country provides an essential grounding for what follows. It is a time to arrive, settle and connect: with Country, with cultural protocol, and with one another before entering the shared space of Kindred People.

Wurrunggi Biik prioritises cultural safety, exchange, and generosity, ensuring First Nations delegates feel supported to practise culture and share knowledge throughout the festival. It honours the importance of beginning ‘proper way’, establishing relationships and responsibilities that carry through the days ahead.

Participation in Wurrunggi Biik is complimentary. Eligible delegates will be invited to participate following registration to kummargi yulendj gadhaba, with further details provided following confirmation.
