Two 16-year-olds navigating adolescence and escalating challenges. In one moment of violence, everything changes.
This powerful new production explores coercive control, violence, and family violence through the eyes of young people. Based on real stories, the play follows two teenagers as seemingly small conflicts and controlling behaviours rapidly escalate—revealing how quickly everyday pressures can spiral out of control.
Produced by Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre, one of Melbourne’s most acclaimed professional theatre companies known for powerful, intimate storytelling, this production combines compelling drama with crucial education about young people’s legal rights.
What to Expect
An Emotional Journey: This is theatre that stays with you. The story is raw, honest, and designed to spark reflection and conversation about the warning signs of coercive control and violence.
Understanding Your Legal Rights: Through a lawyer character who provides guidance and support, the play demonstrates that legal help is accessible and valuable for young people. It breaks down barriers to seeking legal assistance and shows how lawyers can help navigate difficult situations.
Thought-Provoking Themes: The production tackles coercive control, peer pressure and consent, how small incidents can rapidly escalate to violence, and pathways to support.
Post-Performance Panel Discussion: Following the premiere performance, join us for a reflective panel discussion featuring members of the creative team, family violence prevention experts, and community leaders.
Part of 16 Days of Activism: This premiere marks the PCLC’s contribution to the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign (25 November – 10 December).
