Join Alison Lester and Coral Tulloch, two of Australia’s favourite children’s author-illustrators, on an exciting adventure to Antarctica! With live drawing, fun stories, and plenty of ideas and discussion, they’ll share the magic of this frozen world with young explorers.
Alison and Coral are excited to share their passion for Antarctica with you. They’ll tell captivating tales and showcase a unique blend of artwork about early explorers to modern-day adventurers. Their new book, Into the Ice: Reflections on Antarctica, is filled with sketches, stories, and journal entries that will spark your imagination and make you want to discover the wonders of Antarctica yourself!

Alison Lester is the creator of Sophie Scott Goes South, My Farm, Magic Beach, Imagine, Are We There Yet?, Kissed By the Moon, and more. Her picture books mix imaginary worlds with everyday life, encouraging children to believe in themselves and celebrate the differences that make them special.
Coral Tulloch has illustrated over sixty fiction and non-fiction books for children in Australia and internationally, including Touch the Moon, Antarctica: The Heart of the World and One Small Island, which she created with Alison Lester. She has won the 2012 CBCA Book of the Year Award, as well as multiple Environment Awards for Children’s Literature.
Into the Ice: Reflections on Antarctica is part of Family Fiesta’s expedition to Antarctica! Join the penguin parade for an action-packed festival filled with ice play, glacier music, polar camping, krill cabaret, and more. Monash University merges science and the arts, bringing the latest Antarctic research and discoveries to life these school holidays.
After exploring, stop by The Count’s — lunch is sorted with a menu made for hungry adventurers! The Count’s will be open from 11am-1.30pm. A coffee van will also be available from 9am-1pm.
