Lisa Moore performs Bugs and Birds: The Nature of Piano - a virtuoso solo concert spanning 180 years of music that discovers, illuminates, and celebrates our insects, birds, and plants.
Lisa Moore writes about the Program - I find myself often returning to music I love the most - abstract music that magically conjures up imagery and a wordless narrative flow. Beginning with mid-19th Century Schumann and journeying through to modern composers, I have chosen music that illuminates landscapes, birds, insects, and also humanity. From the forests of Moravia to the cupboards of Australia, this music can make owls hoot, wings flutter, moths flicker, flies buzz, cicadas emerge, and perhaps even sun shine. This concert celebrates mother nature through the piano.
Moore is a multifaceted New York-based Australian pianist, recording artist, and avid collaborator. She has performed hundreds of new commissioned works and world premieres. She has worked with more than two hundred living composers, while residing in the vibrant new music scene of New York City since 1985.
