Little Blue Dot

The Ian Potter Centre for Performing Arts

$15 - $20

Past Event

Have you ever looked into the night sky and wondered? Camping together on a star-lit night Dad and Kid wait for a comet passing by for the first time in 50,000 years. While they wait, Kid explains to Dad gravity, light years, time-space and blackholes.

Using magical puppetry techniques, Lemony S Puppet Theatre transports young audiences into space for the world premiere of this visually striking, beautifully played theatre performance for children and families.

What do a team of astrophysicists have to do with making children’s theatre? Quite a lot at Monash University! Little Blue Dot is developed in collaboration with the team at Monash University School of Physics and Astronomy, and is commissioned by Monash University Performing Arts Centres with co-commissioning support from Geelong Arts Centre.

Grounded in a camping star-gazing adventure between a child and their dad, Little Blue Dot tackles big questions we ask about the universe, our place in it and why the only known liveable space in the universe, this precious little blue dot floating in space, matters so very much.

This event is part of Family Fiesta – MPAC’s annual kids’ takeover of the Ian Potter Centre for Performing Arts, 3 – 6 July 2024.
