Turn old plastic into something new! Make your own forest keychain using shredded plastic and an injection moulding machine with Precious Plastic Monash (Monash Engineering).
Roll up your sleeves and see recycling in action as you transform plastic waste into a one‑of‑a‑kind, forest‑themed keepsake. From grocery bags to floating garbage islands, plastic pollution is a big problem for our natural landscapes, including city parks and forest habitats, where plastic debris affects the environment and wildlife.
Precious Plastic Monash, a team of passionate student innovators from Monash University’s Faculty of Engineering, will show how creative recycling keeps materials in use for longer and helps reduce plastic pollution. At this interactive booth, engineering students demonstrate how plastic is collected, shredded, melted, and reshaped using an injection moulding machine. Then it’s your turn: watch the process up close and press your own recycled keepsake to take home.
