Do plants have DNA? How do plants drink? How do plants grow? Join the Scienceworks team for fun, hands-on experiments that reveal the science of the forest.
Did you know forests make up around 17% of Australia’s land area? Understanding our vital ecosystem helps us better understand the local environment. Stop by Scienceworks’ pop‑up science station to get answers to all your forest questions, and more!
Our Scienceworks friends return to Family Fiesta to explore the many things that call forests their home, from giant tall trees that tower above us to the microscopic creatures we can’t see below. Just like your home is a little different from your neighbours’, each critter makes its home unique as it settles in to play its role in the forest ecosystem.
Family Fiesta, Forest
Part of Family Fiesta 1–4 July. MPAC invites children 0–12 and their families to step into the forest and discover a world of free and affordable events. Explore ancient trees, fungi and the hidden micro-world beneath your feet, and see how everything in the forest is connected. Artists, theatre-makers, musicians and dancers team up with scientists to show you just how wondrous and essential these ecosystems are.
