Welcome, aliens! Your spaceship will land on the tourist destination of ‘Planet Chromatron’ where a colourful cosmic botanic garden is on display at Family Fiesta.
Wander through spiky pink grass and purple plants. The special biosphere will allow you to explore mini planets that have a wonderful selection of plants from the most exotic planet known in the entire cosmic solar systems. It has amazing green plants, and it is called ‘Earth’! It’s a beautiful place. It will blow your mind. You can create a mini garden on one of our mini Earth balls. You can also create and play with some alien companions by stacking together different alien body parts.
Following the immense popularity of Wild City at last year’s Family Fiesta, Kathy Holowko returns with a new bespoke space-inspired installation for 2024.
Kathy is a visual artist that explores ecology in her work, creating public artworks, installations and playful projects in a variety of materials. She enjoys researching sites, picking the brains of scientists, and searches for narratives and connections that can help reconsider our world as a cyclical, and shared habitat. She enjoys working with children and for the first time has gone off planet with this year’s Family Fiesta foyer installation.
This event is part of Family Fiesta – MPAC’s annual kids’ takeover of the Ian Potter Centre for Performing Arts, 3 – 6 July 2024.
