The Sound of Music

There is so much to love about The Sound of Music, from its well-known songs such as “My Favourite Things” and “Do Re Mi,” to the inspirational story of Maria Rainer, a young novice who is sent by her convent in 1930s Austria to become a governess to the seven children of a widowed naval officer. As the story unfolds, we see Maria transform from a naïve, carefree young woman to a mature, gentle, and loving mother and wife. We also see the change Maria inspires in those around her, to become the best version of themselves.
Based on Maria Von Trapp’s book about her life called The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, it became a best seller, and yielded 3 movies, going on to be adapted into a Broadway musical in 1959, it became a huge success and won 5 Tony awards.
