The multi-award winning ensemble return to the Counts, presenting their irresistibly danceable alloy of traditional Azmari Ethiopian song and 21st Century groove.

Lead vocalist Enushu began entertaining her local community as a child in Addis Ababa. Collaborating with the Black Jesus Experience she sings hauntingly beautiful compositions using the unique vocal traditions of Ethiopia..The band features an incredible line up of artists including Bob Sedergreen on piano, Peter Harper on saxophone and the poetic giant and lyrical miracle from Zimbabwe Mr Monk.

BJX’s fourth album ‘Migration’ won ‘The Age-Music Victoria Best Global Album 2014’ award, and the received the Best live act in 2013. Their most recent album, ‘To Know Without Knowing’ was The Guardian Jazz Album of the Month, with 4 Star reviews from The Times, Blues + Soul, NPR Radio and more.

BJX have toured “the Motherland” Ethiopia four times, performed with Ethiojazz legend Mulatu Astatke at the United Nations in Addis Ababa, and played at Glastonbury UK.

Make a meal of it! The music gets underway at 7.30pm, but arrive a bit earlier if you can. From 6.30pm, enjoy pre-show dinner and drinks at The Count’s Italian-style kitchen and bar.
