Jessie Lloyd is a powerful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musician, cultural historian, and songkeeper, dedicated to preserving and sharing Indigenous voices through music. Her passion for storytelling and cultural revival plays a strong role in her work. As part of the inaugural Blakout series, Jessie brings her incredible storytelling and musical talent to the stage, offering a soulful cultural experience.

Jessie Lloyd’s work transcends generations, fusing historical research with contemporary performance to bring Indigenous narratives to life. As the creative force behind the Mission Songs Project, she revived rare and nearly forgotten songs from the Aboriginal mission era, giving voice to the lived experiences of Indigenous families. More recently, Jessie has been developing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Songbook—a groundbreaking educational resource that helps schools across Australia integrate Indigenous perspectives into music education.
