Dive Team 5 is a Melbourne-based instrumental group channelling the spirit of tape-era funk and soul through a distinctly live, ensemble-driven approach. Their performances unfold as a single, fully segued suite, built on the interplay of organ, guitar and a deeply locked-in rhythm section, moving between original compositions and instrumental interpretations of favourite tracks.
Having played together for over a decade as the rhythm section of Fulton Street, alongside studio collaborations with artists including Thando and Lauren Brydie, the group is firmly embedded within Melbourne’s funk and soul scene.
Since the release of their debut album First Splash (2020), Dive Team 5 has become a regular presence on local stages and organ nights, including extensive appearances at Bar 303’s Kickin’ The B series. Their forthcoming LP You Only Dive Twice (2026) continues their commitment to uninterrupted ensemble recording, deep grooves and performances captured in motion.
