Past Event

Step into the golden era of jazz with the legendary Syncopators, making their highly anticipated debut at The Count’s!

Originally formed in 1984 by trombonist Chris Ludowyk, this iconic ensemble has earned its place as one of Australia’s premier classic and mainstream jazz groups — and arguably, among the best in the world.

Known for their dazzling versatility, The Syncopators effortlessly blend New Orleans roots, swing, and pre-rock rhythm & blues with the sweet vocal harmonies of the Mills Brothers and Boswell Sisters. Each member is a multi-instrumental powerhouse, delivering dynamic performances filled with energy, humour, and sheer musical brilliance.

Joining them for this special performance is acclaimed vocalist Yvette Johansson. Inspired by legends like Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin, and Gene Kelly, Yvette’s powerful voice and magnetic stage presence have captivated audiences from Melbourne to Canada and Sweden. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, she’s performed everywhere from Bennetts Lane to the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, and even shared the stage with greats like Al Jarreau and Lou Zoulof. Her blend of vocal finesse and emotional depth makes her a truly unmissable guest.

Together, The Syncopators and Yvette Johansson promise a night of world-class jazz — rich in style, spirit, and swing.
