Past Event

Join us, live at The Count’s for a hot blend of jazz, swing, blues and boogie!

Please note: Due to illness, Julie O’Hara is not able to perform with The Shuffle Club tonight. In her place, the amazing Nina Ferro will join the band on vocals.

The Shuffle Club featuring Julie O’Hara is most easily described as a hot blend of jazz, swing, blues and boogie. But that hardly does justice to the band’s raw energy and enthusiasm – the kind that will bring you to your feet and onto the dance floor before you even quite know what is happening!

Uniquely for a jazz outfit, all four band members take the microphone and sing while playing their instruments with aplomb. The Shuffle Club is made up of hot sax, bass, drums and piano, screaming through damn tight arrangements. Working together since 1999, they have toured internationally across Europe, Asia and Central America, as well as performing regularly in venues and festivals all over Australia.

Featuring:
Ashley Gaudion – Saxophone/Vocals
Son of the well-known jazz trumpet player Peter Gaudion, Ashley has been surrounded by local and international jazz and blues artists all his life. Honing his musical talents from a very young age, Gaudion is now well-established as one of Australia’s predominant jazz and blues vocalists and saxophonists.

Paul Griska – Double Bass/Vocals
The pulse of the band, with an impeccable feel for all styles. Paul displays a tasteful approach to his instrument, supplying creative, melodic textures, with a rhythmically driven bass line.

Rodney Gilbert – Drums/Vocals
Rod is one of those rare individuals who can capture any audience. A natural performer and accomplished showman, his talent on the drums is evident, and complimented by a comic touch.

Dannie Bourne – Piano/Vocals
Dannie has worked with icons such as Chuck Berry and Johnny O’Keefe. His boogie-woogie high energy playing adds a hard and exciting edge to The Shuffle Club’s sound.

Julie O’Hara
Julie O’Hara is Australia’s premier bebop jazz vocalist. A veteran of the Australian music scene she has worked with artists such as The Cat Empire, Hoodangers, The Pearly Shells and Mistaken Identity. Julie also works as a music educator, lecturing in jazz and contemporary voice and songwriting at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance at Monash University.
