ZEDSIX reimagine the golden era of jazz and hip-hop, re-mixing classic American and African jazz standards with boogie beats. Catch them at The Count’s Courtyard.

An experience completely unique, ZEDSIX will make their mark in The Count’s Courtyard. Reimagining the golden era’s of jazz and hip-hop, this six-piece outfit re-works and re-mixes classic American and African jazz standards through a new lens. Led by ZEDSIX aka Zvi Belling, producer, composer and bass player from Johannesburg, South Africa, the ensemble investigates this intersection of boom-bap and be-bop, creating the sound of the future!

ZEDSIX’s full length debut album ‘The Shape of Jazz’ was nominated for Best Jazz Album in the Music Victoria Awards and is currently a shortlisted nomination in the Bells Australian Jazz Awards. The ZEDSIX track ‘Lonely Woman Pt I, Pt II & Pt III’ was included in Frank Yamma’s 2020 ARIA Award nominated release. The album illuminates ZEDSIX in a series of musical portraits with a stellar array of international jazz and hip hop artists including Mantra, Cazeaux Oslo, Chris McNulty, Frank Yamma, Mike Zoot, Stogie T, Onesixth and many more.

ZEDSIX AKA Zvi Belling is the founder, director and bass player for the Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, the ARIA nominated Afrobeat ensemble; composer and arranger for South African jazz outfit The Royal Swazi Spa, and leader of the live hip-hop project ZEDSIX. He has performed around the globe with music legends such as Gregory Porter, Johnny Clegg, Chet Faker, Femi Kuti, Hugh Masekela and Egypt 80, to name just a few.
