Ultrafox present hard driving swing with gypsy style acoustic guitars.
Ultrafox was formed by well known guitarist Peter Baylor over 10 years ago and has built a growing reputation as one of the finest swing bands around. Seeking their inspiration from the famous “manouche jazz swing “ of The Hot club of France featuring Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelly of pre war Paris. Their music is characterised by the muscular hard driving swing of gypsy style acoustic guitars laced with lyrical yet fiery solos . Hot swinging jazz, tender lyrical ballads, French melodies, gypsy waltzes and original compositions make up the band’s extensive repertoire. Ultrafox creates an atmosphere of elegant swing and exuberant, dynamic dance tempo jazz. The band has toured extensively and performed at most major jazz festivals in Australia and have release three full length records.
For their special performance on May 4th at The Count’s Ultrafox will be joined by vocalist Julie O’Hara. Plus Peter Baylor and Sam O’Halloran on guitars, Jon Hunt on clarinet and saxophone and Howard Cairns on double bass.
